Family Photography

The days are long, but the years are short.
— Gretchen Rubin

I photograph silly and affectionate families who value authentic images that tell the story of their daily lives together. I work with families who want to remember the ridiculous tickle fights, messy meals and weekend adventures more than perfect smiles at the big milestones. Life with kids ain't always pretty. (Actually, it's rarely pretty.) It's exhausting, hilarious, challenging, tender and awesome. I love families that can embrace the chaos and pause to appreciate the beauty in it all. I capture the essence of a family and give you a tangible way to look back on moments of connection so you can remember how you felt at that time. Your kids will never be this age again and I want to preserve all of the beautifully imperfect moments for you.

Hand Lettering

Calligraphy is an art form that uses ink and a brush to express the very souls of words on paper.
— Kaoru Akagawa

I create custom lettering art for people who believe words have the power to move us, and that those words have extra power when they are hand-written with love. In the age of overwhelming digital technology, I'm committed to keeping the art of writing by hand alive and using it to punctuate our lives. I describe my style as expressive and organic, and I work in a variety of mediums: pointed pen calligraphy; brush and watercolour lettering; chalk; and large-scale word murals. I'm always eager to write on something new!
